Sensory Integration

Sensory Integration

Sensory integration refers to the processing, integration, and organisation of sensory information from the body and the environment.

How we experience, interpret and react to (or ignore) information coming from our senses. Sensory integration is important in all the things that we need to do on a daily basis, such as getting dressed, eating, moving around, socialising, learning and working.

Children with Sensory Integration Dysfunction may be oversensitive or undersensitive to their environment and may have difficulties with social interaction and play.

Sensory Integration Therapy is a therapeutic approach that aims to improve symptoms of Sensory Integration Dysfunction. The therapy uses various tools to stimulate, challenge and develop new adaptive behaviors and responses.
